P Chandra Mohan is born to Smt. Lakshmma & Sri P Venkatappa on 18.08.1954 in an agricultural family at Venkatammana Halli, Pavagada Taluk, Karnataka. He has a brother, who is a contractor by profession and a sister well settled. His wife is a professor of Chemistry at Dayanad Sagar College of Engineering and he is blessed with a daughter who completed her MS at North Karolina and now working as Technology Analyst at Bank of America, North Carolina and a son who completed his MS at southern California and working as Software Engineer at Cisco Systems, California
He is the founder president of the Sri Venkateswara Educational Society, established in the year 2000. Under the umbrella of the society, he is instrumental in establishing an Engineering College, B.I.T Institute of Technology in the year 2001 to provide technical education to rural mass. The College, first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh, is backed by a Trans National Software Company, “CAMO Software, New Jersey, USA” for know how and do how support. The objective of the college is to meet the ever-increasing demand of qualified manpower in the field of emerging areas of Engineering and Technology.
Chandra Mohan is also the Chairman of the Govinda Theertha Degree College, Nandi, Chikballapur. The Organization provides free education at Degree level to the rural and backward communities. He is the Chiarman of Govinda Theertha Nursery & Primary School, Muddena halli, birth place of Sir M. Visveswaraiah, which offers value oriented education to the rural children at free of cost.

Under the leadership of Sri P Chandra Mohan, BIT-IT received “Campus Preparedness Award 2015” from Engineering Watch – Higher Education Forum at Chennai.
He was awarded with Visista Saphalya Puraskar Award (a prestigious award) for his contribution to the rural Education and Social Service to the rural people by Sri K Roshaiah, Governor, Tamilnadu
He was awarded with the Eminent Educationalist Award by NIC Achievers’ Who is who on 22.04.2009.
Under his leadership, BIT Institute of Technology got NBA accreditation status for a period of 3 years. With his continuous efforts towards the rural engineering education BIT Institute of Technology stood 26th place in top promising engineering colleges of excellence in CSR- GHRDC engineering college survey 2010.
He is the treasurer of Socio Educational & Economic Development Society, Davangere since 20 years under which he has successfully conducted Legal aid camps through which the awareness of law, legal support and counseling is provided at free of cost.

Encouragement to Sports
P Chandra Mohan a keen lover of sports was the captain of the Ball badminton and volleyball teams during his college days. The passion for the sports still continues and he encourages sports activities for the rural students and has initiated BIT – EENADU cricket tournament at Anantapur. He has sponsored the sports paraphernalia for disabled cricket team of Anantapur. He also motivates the students of BITIT with trophies for Volleyball, Cricket, Chess, etc.
Commitment towards Social Responsibility
Chandra Mohan has spiritual bent of mind and he is inspired by Swamy Vivekananda and Shri Satya Sai Baba, Puttaparthi. He is a dedicated, socially responsible person, who conducts social service activities regularly to serve the poor and backward community through pulse polio and blood donation, health awareness programmes. He has adopted Beerepalli school in which he has been kind enough to construct infrastructure facilities for the staff and the students. He has a soft corner for the rural students and has donated books, uniforms, and computer peripherals to schools.

Chandra Mohan has a very good Industry – Institute interaction. His association with the manufacturing and software giants is able to arrange an interaction programmes, project work and placement activities for Engineering Students.
Entrepreneurship Development Initiatives
Chandra Mohan believes in the philosophy of “Be a Job provider than Job Seeker” and in view of that he conducts courses in Fundamentals of Computers, Introduction to MS – Office, Tally, DTP to unemployed, dropout students at free of cost.
Environmental Friendly initiatives
Global warming and depletion of Ozone layer is a universal concern. Chandra Mohan initiated Vana mahostav, drip irrigation and rainwater harvesting in the campus for a clean and green environment.
Chandra Mohan has initiated a scheme for poor and meritorious students. In which 5 free seats are given under management quota for economically poor students on merit basis. A sum of Rs.1 Lakh is distributed every year among the 1st & 2nd Toppers in each department. He started the Sai Balaji EVVVVtrust for meritorious scholarships. He announced the cash prize of Rs.50,000 for university toppers.
